Celina Tent Europe LTD

Celina Tent endeavors to make a difference in the world at large. As a company that cares, we try to make sure each and every one of our products is of the highest quality so that our customers receive items that both we and they can be proud of. One of the product lines that has been developed over the years is the Celina HGPTS or Humanitarian General Purpose Tent System. These are sold to agencies tasked with recovery efforts in order to be used in the aftermath of natural disasters.

Typhoons have recently moved through the Pacific and caused devastation throughout the Mariana Islands, the Philippines, and China. In many cases, Humanitarian Tents made by Celina were used to help give survivors and aid personnel workplaces and temporary housing.

Typhoon Mangkhut

Active Period: 7th to 17th of September 2018

One of the strongest tropical cyclones to travel through the region in the past decade, Typhoon Mangkhut traveled from the central Pacific westward. In four days it had escalated from a tropical disturbance to typhoon strength.

The typhoon eventually hit the island of Rota directly, causing major devastation to buildings, agriculture, and infrastructure. Rota, an island in the Commonwealth of Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI), was provided with more than 40 HGPTS. These were utilized to provide living accommodations and storage areas for survivors and workers helping in the recovery. Typhoon Mangkhut eventually hit the northern Philippine island of Luzon and eventually made landfall and dissipated over the Guangxi region.

Super Typhoon Yutu

Active Period: 21st October to 3rd November 2018

Only a month after experiencing the previous tropical storm, Super Typhoon Yutu followed a similar path as Typhoon Mangkhut and caused more destruction through the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) and western Pacific. In a three day period, Typhoon Yutu went from a tropical depression to a Category 5 super typhoon. After hitting both Tinian and southern Saipan in the CNMI and causing massive damage to buildings and vegetation, sea conditions caused it to weaken to Category 2 by the time is arrived at Luzon, then dissipated at sea four days later.

Many supplies had been stockpiled due to the previous typhoon; this left a fair amount of resources, including food, water, and shelters to be put to use. The HGPTS can be completely set up in a half hour, giving protected space for living areas, storage, and aid facilities.
